Gateway Beta
- Gateway features require a 14-day guide data subscription.
- The current release does not support viewing live TV on remote devices. This will be added in the v3.3 release.
- There are three stages of live TV support from a single tuner device. It is possible that only the first makes it into v3.3 and the other two will be in v3.4.Â
- Allow watching live TV when the single tuner device is in standby.
- Force both devices to watch the same channel
- Allow either device to change channels
- Viewing Live TV on connected devices will not require a guide data subscription.
- The current release only supports viewing recorded programs.
- The current release supports the following simultaneous activities: 1 or 2 recordings, one local playback, and one remote playback.
- The current UI supports a maximum of 4 ZapperBox devices in the home. This limit will be increased in future releases.
- The current release does not support scheduling recordings on remote devices. This will be added in a future release.
- The current release does not support remote viewing of encrypted channels. This will be added in a future release.
- The current release does not support co-located devices in "passive" (IR disabled) or "active" mode so that only the "active" device responds to remote control key presses. This may be added in the v3.3 release.
DVR
- DVR requires minimum 128GB of added storage (sold separately).
- First time DVR use will force a reformat of the storage device. DVR will not work without a reformat.
- Enhanced DVR features require a subscription for 14-day guide data. See FAQ #8.
- HDDs require external power. SSDs, Flash drives and microSD cards do not. See FAQ #22.
- Use of the 60-minute pause buffer is not recommended with microSD cards and Flash drives. It is okay to use with SSDs and HDDs. See Blog posts about this topic.
- DVR for broadband channels will be supported in a future release.
Content Security Beta (aka DRM/encrypted channels)
- An Internet connection is required for the current version of content security software.
- Content security without an Internet connection (offline DRM) will be supported in an upcoming release.
- Email us at support@zapperbox.com if content security is not enabled on your ZapperBox.
- v3.0 adds support for DRM key caching (aka persistence). Channel changes are 2-3 seconds faster for encrypted channels once the license is pre-loaded. Please restart your box or check for updates for this change to take effect. Persistence now works in the following markets and we are testing and adding more:
