56. Is there a federal law that prohibits restrictions on the use of outdoor TV antennas?

Yes. The FCC’s Over-the-Air Reception Devices Rule (47 C.F.R. Section 1.4000) states that homeowners and tenants are legally allowed to install, maintain, and use outdoor antennas to receive television broadcast signals. The OTARD rule specifically prohibits restrictions that impair the installation, maintenance, or use of antennas used to receive video programming, including television broadcast antennas, direct broadcast satellite dishes, and wireless cable antennas.
